- Are you under a time crunch and the part isn't serial-number specific? You're in Scenario 3. The key is verification, not the source. OEM or aftermarket matters less than confirming fitment. Use the online parts lookup; don't rely on memory or a phone call.
There's no magic formula. Making the wrong choice—trusting the cheapest option on a critical job, or spending extra on a vanity part—is a tax you pay for not asking the right question first: "What is the cost of being wrong in this specific situation?"
